250 E Houston (formerly known as The Red Square) is an architectural landmark most famous for the Tibor Kalman designed rooftop clocks, visible from all parts of the neighborhood. Looking to update the lobby and lounge of this 130 apartment multi-family building in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, Bromley Caldari Architects turned to AKDO.

Cut-To-Size Project
Built in 1931, 165 Capitol Avenue is home to the State of Connecticut’s Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, and staff offices. Award-winning architecture and interior design firm Amenta Emma Architects was tasked with restoring the state office building’s historically significant features, while updating the aesthetic to reflect a more contemporary workplace. Inspired By Nature
Located next to the ocean along the coast of Equatorial Guinea, the Sipopo Congress Hall is a 15,000 square foot, double storied structure. Common areas utilized cut-to-size floor tile from AKDO, including three gathering spaces, a restaurant and a main central hall. Designed by the Turkish architecture firm Tabanlioglu Architectsin collaboration with well-known international Turkish contractor, SUMMA, the duo was able to successfully complete the grandiose project in just 5 months. In 2018, a large-scale remodeling project was undertaken to enhance the guest rooms, redesigning them to reflect local culture with features inspired by Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage. Throughout Europe it is common to see mosaics used on ceilings. Here in the States, not as much. So we were thrilled when designer Jeffrey Beers envisioned a European-style food hall concept for chef Todd English at New York’s famed Plaza Hotel. The Jeffrey Beers team came to us with a plan for a gorgeous open pasta kitchen with a backsplash wall and barrel-vaulted ceiling they wanted to cover with a stunning mosaic. A Luxury Suite Inspired by Champagne
AKDO was privileged to work with acclaimed architects and thought leaders HOK as they conjured a champagne-themed design for this sprawling 5,000 square foot hotel suite, with breathtaking vistas of Manhattan landmarks and three floors of spectacular décor. This extravagant space at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel is among the most luxurious accommodations anywhere. One of its most dramatic aspects is a two-story feature wall of custom-crafted, split-face stone mosaic that wraps from the living room entry wall all the way throughout the well of the grand staircase.
